I promise, this one won't be so long and I hope you learn some lessons at the end of it.
So this guy stepped on toes by displaying his true colours without reservations.
Of course he had a good number of friends and enemies that toppled that number four times.
He was the type of guy that everyone tells you about shortly after joining the company.
If you're not emotionally intelligent enough, you'll cop him as your enemy on the first few days of work (i.e. based on hearsay experiences).
I watched how few people casually celebrated his birthday on our WhatsApp group or ‘platform’ as the older generation would call it.
We were going about our normal activities one day when news reached us that the rocky chair had lost its swing. The man had kicked the bucket so hard you would think it was a free-kick. Ladies and gentlemen, in other words, the man had died (Kpai).
Omo! Our ‘platform’ nearly shutdown. Messages were worst than the 2012 Bayelsa floods. RIPs everywhere.... People began sharing memories and old pictures together.
Hiaaaa! The same man? His birthday was no where close. Such a loved man (oh, the irony).
Before I could say jack, a candle light procession was in the talks on the platform. Oh Chim! See the love! Even people who maintained social distance with him (kept MALICE) were all so nice 🙂
I thought to myself, why is it so easy for people to love you when you no longer exist?
The news of death always reminds us that life is the most frail and unpredictable thing ever.
So why do we hold a grudge for so long? Why do we inherit enemies?
I often tell people that our lives are like hourglasses, the only difference is we are not allowed to know how much time we have left.
Imagine if we knew how much time we had left, a lot of us would be a lot nicer....
