Acting on God's Word in the Face of Challenges: What do we stand to gain by acting on God's word as Christians?

 I have encountered a few people who were very much carried away with the deeds of the flesh in the past. These people's lives suddenly took a turn after they declared for Christ. They stopped almost every ill thing they did in the past, and apparently became new. Their social media handles were littered with the scriptures and biblical illustrations every single day. Days became weeks and weeks turned months, the fire began to go down. Why though? They started facing challenges!

Some thought staying off the past was the only thing they'd gain becoming Christians. Others thought their lives would flourish easily and their previously thorny paths would turn rosy. But when challenges come, when they fail in certain areas, they almost conclude that God has abandoned them.

Burdened with the happenings around them, they make confessions like:

Bro, I thought it will be so easy! A lot has been happening and I'm honestly tired.

Others might say:

I've been trying so hard, if not for how far I've come, I'd have dropped this faith a long time ago 

As a Christian, you must always have it at the back of your mind that It's not going to be an easy ride. But with God it'll be worthwhile. 

You must have heard a dozen of preachers saying over the radio or television that as a Christian you're not meant to be poor, to borrow, to be sick and so on. However, on examination of your life and your current predicament you can't help but notice how it pales in comparison.

Ah! Perhaps God hasn't forgiven me,

Or maybe it's nemesis :(

Challenges might present themselves in various forms, but in all, God is with the believer. His ears are open to their prayers. He sees them and he protects and provides for them.

The face of the lord is against them that do evil.

As long as you are a child of God, your father knows what's best for you and has you in his best interest.

How can we act on the word of God in the face of adversities?

1. Rely on God's Word and not your senses:

All the miracles God did were literally impossible with the senses. That's why they're called miracles anyway. With our senses and carnal minds, it's impossible to walk on water. This is why the hordes of scientists and wise men of the world question the miracles of the scriptures and the existence of God. They work with their senses. Anything they don't see, hear, feel or touch doesn't exist.

With our senses we can diagnose according to signs and symptoms, but we can't see beyond that. With our senses we can look at situations and say there's no hope. With our senses we conclude that God has abandoned us and left us to suffer. I could go on and on!

Don't rely on your senses, trust in God's word.

The situations might look impossible, but there's nothing impossible with God.

You're a child of God! You're a Superman! God has given you the authority. You must believe in God's word. His words should have ascendancy over your senses.

2. Doubt is your enemy:

As I fondly say: if you pray for rain, take your umbrella with you! 

You don't say I'm healed and doubt what God is capable of doing. Doubt creates a dead-end in our hearts. Doubt is simply your senses speaking.

God has saved you from sin, but your senses will tell you: “Oboy! This thing dey possible at all?”

Take action! Don't just be a hearer of the word. Be a doer of the word. Don't be like the man who looks at himself in the mirror and forgets what he looks like the moment he leaves.

Yes, God's word says otherwise, but you must also take bold steps. You can only take bold steps if you've believed.

3. Read your Bible daily:

Study the word of God! In them, you'll find life. You'll find strength. Your senses will be quickened and your mind renewed. The word of God will help you know that in all situations, God is with you. Make it a habit to study God's word every day. Meditate on them and walk in them.

In conclusion, challenges will definitely come up, but God is always with you in every circumstance you face. Be strong and be of good cheer! Study your Bible daily.
